We'd love to have you sing with us! Registration for new members are accepted at the first rehearsals in both September and January. MFC is an open and inclusive community committed to lifelong singing. Our membership is open to any adult who usually lives in Mississauga. Funding regulations require that our membership must be made up of 80% Mississauga residents. If you are a new member and not living in Mississauga, please register, attend our first rehearsal and give us a try. Space must be available in your preferred voice section, subject to the discretion of the artistic director. Your name may be placed on a waiting list until space is available. We will be able to confirm your membership within the first few weeks of the term.
Will I have to audition?
No, MFC is a true community choir, and there are no auditions. Anyone who can sing in tune with his or her voice section is welcome to join us.
What is the membership fee?
The membership fee is currently $140 (subject to change) for a half season (September to December or January to May). Membership fees are reviewed and determined by the choir's Board of Directors. We welcome prospective members to come and watch the first or second rehearsal in September before deciding if they would like to join. All registration fees are non-refundable.
How do I join Mississauga Festival Chamber Choir?
Mississauga Festival Chamber Choir (MFCC) is a smaller auditioned branch of the main MFC choir. Auditions are generally held in October. MFCC members are required to attend additional rehearsals on Sunday nights.
How do I join Resonance?
Resonance is open to anyone 15 to 28 years old. Everyone is welcome - no auditions!
Please visit the Resonance website for more information.
Do I have to pay for music?
Once you have paid your membership fee, you will be provided with sheet music for the upcoming concert. All sheet music is on loan and remains the property of MFC.
What do choir members wear at performances?
Choir members must wear performance attire that complies with the choir's requirements. A document describing full attire requirements is provided to members. For women, the attire includes either a long, plain, black, round-neck dress and long black jacket or a plain black blouse with long or 3/4 sleeves and a round neckline with a plain, long black skirt. For men the attire includes black tuxedo or suit pants and jacket with a white tuxedo/dress shirt, a black cummerbund and a black bow tie. Women must wear black hose and shoes, and men must wear black socks and shoes. Both women and men must have their music in a black folder for all performances.
